LOCAL JEWELLERY DESIGNER LAUNCHES 'DENNIS & LAVERY' FINE JEWELLERY COLLECTION AT COOPERS JEWELLERS, HOVE

Brighton & Hove, 19th November 2007 - Fine jewellery designer and Hove resident Cindy Dennis Mangan makes her Sussex debut and launches her first Dennis & Lavery Ready To Wear fine jewellery collection at Coopers Jewellers on George Street, Hove, today. The Prima Ballerina Collection of glamourous modern ballerina pendants, inspired by Darcey Bussell CBE and Swan Lake, is a series of six pendants in white, rose and yellow gold, with the signature piece Prima Diva encrusted with diamonds.

The Prima Ballerina Collection was unveiled by veteran performer Wayne Sleep OBE at a star-studded event in London six weeks ago when it was announced that 10% of the profits from the collection will go to The Wayne Sleep Foundation. Wayne set up The Foundation in honour of Diana Princess of Wales who was a dedicated patron of the performing arts, to financially assist talented young dancers and performers across the UK with their studies.

Cindy Dennis Mangan, created this first Dennis & Lavery Ready To Wear fine jewellery collection over the past 12 months after graduating from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in 2006 in Fine Jewellery Design and Graduate Diamond Grading. The designer collection, named Dennis & Lavery after Cindy's stylish grandmothers, consists of The Prima Ballerina Collection and the It's Coming Up Roses series of 18k white and yellow gold diamond-set rose pendants and cameo-style statement rings. Cindy, a former dancer herself, was inspired by the passion of dance performance and designed the Prima pendant to encapsulate the stylish grace, fluidity, and fusion of the ballerina and the swan.

Today Cindy said "I am absolutely thrilled that my first Dennis & Lavery collection is being showcased at Coopers Jewellers because it is a thriving local family business and Simon Cooper has such broad experience in the world of the fine jewellery. Also, being a Hove resident it is very special for me that such an established business like Coopers has accepted The Prima Ballerina Collection in the lead up to this Christmas."

Coopers Jewellery, on George Street, Hove, will showcase a selection of pendants from The Prima Ballerina Collection. The entire Ready To Wear collection can be viewed at www.DennisandLavery.com, or seen pictured in the Dennis & Lavery postcard folder available from Coopers Jewellers.

All Prima pendants are presented on a double-strand 18k white gold chain, encased in a stunning black and cream jewellery box. The collection includes the following:

Prima Darcey - All white 18k gold, the first pendant is owned by Darcey Bussell CBE
Prima Bella - 18k white gold body and yellow gold skirt
Prima Aurora - 18k yellow gold body and white gold skirt
Prima Rosa - 18k rose gold body and white gold skirt
Prima Beatrice - 18k white gold body and rose gold skirt
Prima Diva - 18k white gold with the skirt encrusted with over 60 F-colour/VS1 round brilliant diamonds

DENNIS & LAVERY FINE JEWELLERY FORMS FUNDRAISING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WAYNE SLEEP FOUNDATION

  • 10% OF PROFITS FROM PRIMA BALLERINA COLLECTION DONATED
  • AIM IS TO SUPPORT TALENTED YOUNG PERFORMERS ACROSS UK

LONDON, UK - Dennis & Lavery, Bespoke and Collection Fine Jewellery, announces the formation of an exciting fundraising partnership with The Wayne Sleep Foundation to support talented young performers throughout the UK. This announcement was made at the launch of the inaugural Dennis & Lavery Fine Jewellery Collection, designed by Cindy Dennis Mangan, during London Fashion Week 2007. Inspired by how dance and theatre can bridge communities, Cindy and Wayne agreed that ten percent of the profits from The Prima Ballerina Collection would go towards supporting performing arts students to further their studies in theatre and dance.

In designing The Prima Ballerina Collection, Cindy was inspired by Darcey Bussell and the classical ballet Swan Lake, and designed the dancer pendant to encapsulate the fluidity of movement and passion of both the swan and the Prima Ballerina. The pendants are made from highly polished 18kt white, yellow, and rose gold. There are six versions of the dancer, with Prima Diva the signature piece in 18kt white gold, with her skirt pave-set with over sixty 0.01ct VS1 round brilliant diamonds.

Cindy Dennis Mangan, GIA Diamond Graduate and Fine Jewellery Designer, said “When I first established Dennis & Lavery Fine Jewellery my aim was find a way to give back to a younger generation through the performing arts community while creating modern romantic heirloom jewellery. So forming this partnership with The Wayne Sleep Foundation is absolutely a dream come true. I believe in the power of dance and performance to build character, heal trauma, and to bridge nations, therefore to help Wayne support talented young students is an investment in our future.”

About The Wayne Sleep Foundation

The Wayne Sleep Foundation was registered as a charity on 15 July 1998, its aim being to raise funds to provide scholarships for talented students to further their training in all aspects of theatre and dance. The Wayne Sleep Dance Scholarship was formally launched on the 19 July 1998 at a gala event on Wayne’s fiftieth birthday.

Wayne launched the charity because he was often asked to give interviews about Princess Diana, since he had known her and performed with her on stage. Since the media often paid for these interviews, Wayne decided to use the payments to start the scholarship programme in recognition of the fact that Diana had always been an ardent supporter of the performing arts.

To date funding has come from performances that Wayne has both directed and appeared in, from patrons and donations from people who care about the future of gifted youngsters.
